The Return of The All-New 2019 Ford Ranger

2019 Ford Ranger

It’s been eight years since Ford has sold a small truck in Canada. Many buyers lamented the loss of the Ranger when it was discontinued in 2011, but now, the midsize pickup is back as an all-new 2019 model. Come visit Westview Ford for 2019 Ford models in our new inventory.

Although Ford has continuously sold the Ranger abroad, it pulled the plug on the truck almost a decade ago in Canada. At the time, the midsize truck was a top-seller, but more resources were needed for the development of the F-150, as well as hybrid vehicles. So, the doors were closed on the 86-year old Minnesota factory where the Ranger was built.

But soon, an all-new 2019 Ranger will begin rolling off the assembly line at a plant in Wayne, Michigan. With the introduction of the latest, North American truck, Ford will once again be able put the Toyota Tacoma and Chevrolet Colorado in check.

Design

Even though the old Ford Ranger was doggedly dependable, it wasn’t much to look at. With the handsome 2019 model, that all changes. The new truck sports muscular proportions and a prominent front grille that, in many ways, make it look a lot like a small F-150.

Two-door or four-door body configurations are available. Meanwhile, trim levels include XL, XLT, and Lariat. There’s also two appearance packages, Sport and Chrome, along with an FX4 Off-Road package.

Performance

Consumers demand “go big or go home” performance from their pickup trucks. And the Ford Ranger delivers with a Mustang-sourced turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive comes standard and optional four-wheel drive is available.

The Ranger sits on top of a high-strength steel frame made exclusively for the North American market. This robust undercarriage is paired with a stout suspension and available rear-locking differential. The result is newfound durability and capability.

Technology

On many new pickup trucks, the latest technology is applied solely to the cab area. But the 2019 Ford Ranger offers cutting-edge features both inside and out. The interior boasts a full array of conveniences, such as the SYNC 3 infotainment system (complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) and Ford + Alexa personal assistant. FordPass Connect 4G LTE Wi-Fi is also available.

Innovative technology is applied throughout the rest of the truck as well. Highlights include available Trail Control – which acts as a type of off-road cruise control – and Terrain Management with selectable driver modes. An optional Smart Trailer Tow connector is also available to alert drivers of faulty trailer connections.

Safety

Advanced safety technology isn’t just for luxury cars anymore. The 2019 Ford Ranger packs class-leading driver assistance features like standard Automatic Emergency Braking, and available Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and Reverse Sensing. Plus, a class-exclusive Blind Spot Information System with trailer coverage is offered, along with Pedestrian Detection and Adaptive Cruise Control.
